Hello peeps. Edwin here. Here is what last week's sermon was all about.
WHEN TRUTH COLLIDES: PART 2
1st BIG TRUTH: God knows what is best for us better than we do
Some people have some problems with this big truth. We do not buy it at times.
We tend to think that we know this is the best.
And as you all know, we DON'T.
So, what is the problem with us?
God knows the best. Face it, and take it.
Also, our outcomes do not show itself as soon as we make decisions.
When we make the wrong choices, our outcomes do not appear straight away.
Some require time for the bad outcomes to appear.
For example, like what PD said, one girl got AIDS after doing it (you know what I mean) ONCE.
She made the wrong decision and the result appeared many years later.
By then it is too late.
Now, where have we heard that before?
Scary huh?
How do we avoid it?
Simple answer, though not very easily applicable.
It's based on last 2 week's sermon: BELIEF-->DECISION-->OUTCOME
SOLUTION: CHANGE YOUR BELIEF SYSTEM;
replace the belief system which says 'we know the best for us' with 'God knows much better'!
Example: instead of asking for something to appear instantly, wait for God's timing as He knows the best!
Proverbs 3:5-6 says 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths'
Trust Him and lean on His understanding, not our own. He knows better than us.
Remember King Solomon who tried to achieve good things by doing the wrong things?
Background story:
King Solomon was the wisest man alive on earth. He was respected. When he was young, God appeared to him twice and in one of it He asked young Solomon what his wish was. He asked for wisdom. And also, God said since he asked for wisdom to rule Israel, He will bless him with other things which he did not wish for.
He was granted his wish. But he thought he was wiser and he thought his ways were better instead of God's.
God told Israelites long ago that Jewish man could not marry foreign girls (lol @ them?).
Solomon thought he was special, so he married the foreign kings' daughters in order to have peace and bond among their countries.
Big mistake dude.
His heart was turned to his foreign wives and he was led by them to their own gods.
So what happened next?
Israel was invaded by foreign countries (and Solomon married the kings' daughters y'know?).
Israel was separated into two parts: Judea and Israel.
Sad eh?
Do not trust your heart like what your mom told you.
'Deep inside your heart. Dig it. Hear what your heart wants..'
Your heart is not a constant thing.
But God is never-changing.
God's will trumps our understanding.
Submit to God and trust in Him --> Godly, desirable outcomes.
Trust God till we begin to see the Godly outcomes.
That's it folks! =D
