John 3:16

Sermon (5 Dec): WHEN TRUTH COLLIDES – PART 3

2nd big truth: Everybody you lay your eyes on, is somebody for whom Christ died for.

The word everybody refers to ALL of the people we see, we pass by.
They are the people of immeasurable value.
--> How do we treat someone whom God loves so much?

The value of a thing is determined by the price it will bring.
- Example: if I were to ask you to buy an iPhone which costs 2000 dollars, you wouldn’t buy it because it isn’t worth the money at all!

Therefore, we have the tendency to value people based on the value to us, not their value to God.

In our lives, we will value the people that the people you value, value.
- Example: I’m nice and say hi to my friend’s parents not because I like them, but because my friend values her parents, so I will value them too!

Coming back to the question: How do we treat someone whom God loves so much?

That someone can be closely related to you, or can be some random stranger you meet outside.
--> Is he/she just a stranger or a child of God in your eyes?

When we see each individual as a child of God, whom God values so much, we will begin to look at them differently.

1John 4:9-11 (New International Version)

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

--> ought = owe it to them.
God loves ALL of us, and that includes people who are unlovable, irritating, etc. If God can love a person, then surely, we can love like He does because He loved us first! Let us begin to put aside our differences, and love one another.

Imagine you meet a stranger, and God speaks to you: treat the person well because he/she is highly valued by me.

Imagine when we are in a situation when the other party is being a nuisance and we wanted to start an argument or perhaps say something really mean, God speaks to you: He is highly valued by me.

Will things be different when you know this life-changing truth? YES! : D

In every relationship that we have with people, make it a point to remember that they, are valued by God whom He sends His son to die for. The person might be the worst jerk in the world, but they are the very people that are valued by God.

So instead of: This person is so irritating; I’m going to avoid him/her.

CHANGE TO: Even though this person is irritating, but I will do my best to love her, because she is valued by God. She means to God as much as I mean to God!

OUR BELIEF GOT TO BE: GOD VALUES EVERYONE

But hor! That doesn’t mean there won’t be conflict for definite, just that in the midst of life right, we got to be cautious and mindful! =)

--> Jesus was crucified on the cross.

He did it for us, simply because He sees us of great value.

So even when people persecute you, you got to remember: GOD VALUES THEM!

Instead of seeing people through our own lenses, let’s see them through God’s lenses today! :D

The next time you lay your eyes on a person; always remind yourself that he/she isn’t a stranger, but a person that God loves so much, that He gave his one and ONLY Son. =)

Sermon is awesome right? :D Then must remember to APPLY, we are not only hearers, but DOERS of the Word! Have a blessed week ahead people! =)

INTERMISSION!

Intermission is a period of time to restrategize or take action.
For example: soccer players restrategize duing half time, actors prepare for the performance during a break

Intermission periods can also be found in our christian life!
the 3 most common ones are
1)After we pray
2)After we hear sermon
3)Period after QT

These are periods where we can restrategize and take action as well!
For example, after we hear a sermon on saturday, we dont just forget about it for the rest of the week, but we act upon what we have learn and also encourage and remind each other about it as well!

Also, when we pray for things, do we remember them, and support them with our actions? if not, its time to do so!

Many times in our christian walk we get distracted during our intermission periods, and thus we lose our focus. We can be too busy or to caught up with the world that we miss out on examining ourselves, to get our personal life right!

James 1:22-25 (New International Version)

22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

We dont just hear the word and forget about it, but we act upon it, and we must constantly examine ourselves!

The Bible is our mirror and it shows us who we really are!

so what now?

1) Determine the actions that goes along with your prayer or the decision you have made during sermon
2) start talking about it!
3)get into a routine
4)Learn all you can and be observant!
5)examine your plans and goals on a daily basis
6)keep looking for opportunities to grow!~

have a blessed week

Hey people?
How have all of you been?
I miss alot of you.
Hanging out seems so fun.
Just slacking around, or going for pool.
Even though I have exams next week,
I still love to see you all!
Really want to hear from all of you people!

Love, Isaac.
